We are delighted to invite attendees and guests of the NAFSA 2016 Conference to join one of our four scheduled campus tours. The University of Colorado Denver is an urban university located in the heart of downtown Denver and just a few blocks from the Colorado Convention Center where the NAFSA Conference is taking place.

Our Auraria campus, shared with two other institutions, is the largest campus of higher education in Colorado and one of the largest in the US. Our international students make up 8% of the student body and have come from 130 different countries while approximately 450 students participated in one of our global education programs last year. As one of the nation’s top accredited academic and health sciences institutions, the university holds more than 40 specialized accreditations and offers unique options for customizing degrees. Students can choose from over 140 degree choices such as urban design, business, engineering, pre-medicine, pharmacy, or they can customize their own degree. Each student’s educational experience will be supported through outstanding student services. Those with limited English proficiency have the option of studying at the ESL Academy, which not only will develop their academic language skills but will also support their success as a University of Colorado Denver student.

University of Colorado Boulder

The University of Colorado Boulder (CU-Boulder) has a 139-year history of educating students from Colorado, the United States and the world. As one of the leading comprehensive research universities in the region, CU-Boulder has an established reputation for world-class teaching, research, service to society, and is home to 5 Nobel Prize winners and 2 U.S. Professors of the Year. The Carnegie Foundation classified CU-Boulder as a level one research university and CU-Boulder is one of only 34 public institutions in North America belonging to the Association for American Universities (AAU). CU-Boulder received $425.6 million in sponsored research funding in 2014-2015 and is one of the top universities for undergraduate research. The University is also a Division 1 NCAA athletic institution and member of the Pac-12 Conference.

We will have buses arranged for NAFSA participants to arrive on campus for an information session, tour, lunch, and to enjoy the Memorial Day festivities. CU­ Boulder's Folsom Stadium is the finish line for the BolderBoulder, one of the world's most famous 1OK races. Our NAFSA guests will be invited into the stands at Folsom Stadium to experience the Memorial Day tribute and to cheer on elite racers from all over the world. We encourage our NAFSA participants to come dressed representing their countries. Country flags are also welcome! CU-Boulder has reached capacity for this visit.

Denver Language School

We are very pleased to invite attendees and guests of the NAFSA 2016 Conference to visit the Denver Language School. The Denver Language School is Denver’s only full-language immersion, public, K-8 school. We have 620 students divided equally between two language tracks – Mandarin Chinese or Spanish. When our children leave the school in 8th grade, they have high proficiency in the target language, high academic achievement, and enjoy all the brain benefits that come with acquiring a second language at a young age. We truly believe we are creating global citizens who will be the leaders, problem-solvers and critical thinkers of the 21st century.

Community College of Denver

We would like to invite all NAFSA 2016 attendees and guests to experience the life here at the Community College of Denver. While on campus, you can attend an information session, take a student-led tour, and talk to some of the people who make up our community, like staffs, and students. As one of the 13 institutions in the Colorado Community College System, CCD is the third largest with more than 10,000 students taking classes both online and in the classrooms. Originally the site of the 1858 frontier town of Auraria, the campus has the oldest-standing structure in Denver—the former Temple Emmanuel (now Emmanuel Gallery), an exhibition space for student and faculty artwork. Situated along the west bank of Cherry Creek, CCD is also the only community college in the nation to share a campus with two four-year universities—Metropolitan State University of Denver and University of Colorado Denver. Together the three institutions share classroom buildings, a fully-accessible health center, a regional library, recreational facilities, a performing arts center, and a student union.

Colorado School of English

Colorado School of English (CSE), founded in 1994, is an internationally accredited, private ESL school located in the heart of downtown Denver. We are a government-approved SEVP school and are able to issue I-20s to students seeking full-time F-1 (student) visas. Additionally, we work with many colleges and universities and help our students get accepted to the university of their choice. Our diverse student body represents on average 30 countries at any given time and our downtown location is surrounded by hotels, restaurants, shopping, and museums. We offer a number of English programs at CSE. Our goal is to meet the needs of all of our students by teaching English at the pace of the individual student, and we do so by being flexible and by offering a wide range of classes and levels. We have academic classes (grammar, reading & writing, speaking & listening and TOEFL Preparation), elective classes, General English and professional classes (including Business English). We also design classes for private companies, and we offer private tutoring for students who wish to have individualized instruction.

Welcome to Colorado School of English! We welcome interested parties, agents and universities to tour our school located in the heart of downtown Denver, just two short blocks off the pedestrian-only 16th Street Mall. We are an SEVP-certified, private IEP school. As of 2016 we’ve had over 1,000 students study in our programs which range from academic to professional and test preparation. We invite NAFSA 2016 Conference participants from around the world to tour our school and find out more about our programs, students, staff and culture.

University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus

The medical campus employs 21,000, and houses three separate entities – the University of Colorado, the University of Colorado Hospital and Children’s Hospital Colorado. These separate entities collaborate to provide world-class care that is consistently recognized among the best in the nation. The campus itself is the newest comprehensive medical campus in the country, where health professional education, life sciences research, clinical care, and the commercialization of life sciences intellectual property occurs in one location. Spring International Language Center

We are very pleased to invite attendees and guests of the NAFSA 2016 Conference to visit Spring International Language Center-Denver. Spring International Language Center is an intensive English language program preparing students for success in an academic setting as well as improving English language skills for personal and professional purposes. We also offer a Graduate Exam Training program focused on the G.R.E. Spring International Language Center has three locations: two in Colorado and one at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. The main center in Littleton, Colorado was established in 1979; the Denver center opened in 1987 and the Arkansas center opened in 1992. All three programs are accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation (CEA) and the school leadership has been very active in the field of intensive English program administration. The Denver Center is located in the heart of Denver on the 16th Street Mall just a few blocks from the convention center. Along with other institutions of higher education, we work actively with both the Community College of Denver and Metropolitan State University of Denver, two of the institutions housed on the nearby Auraria Higher Education Center campus, to ensure our students have options for their undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

The two-hour tour and information session will provide an overview of our program with representatives from our three locations on site to introduce their centers and answer questions. Classes will be in session at the Denver Center and our visitors will be allowed to sit in on one of the classes and experience an immersion intensive English class that is student-centered and interactive. The Academic Coordinator will be available as well to give an overview of our curriculum and answer questions about our program design.

Our center is easily walkable and only 3 blocks from the convention center. Locate the Blue Bear statue outside the main entrance of the convention center and you are directly across from California Street. Walk one block along California to the 16th Street Mall and catch the Free Mall Shuttle going towards Union Station. Get off at Champa St. (2nd stop) and you are in front of the Champa Square building. Turn right on Champa and about 50 feet down the block is the entry to 1600 Champa Street. Soko Sushi is in our lobby. Take the elevator to the 4th floor and you are at Spring International Language Center! Or walk down the 16th St. Mall and turn right on Champa Street and locate the entrance for 1600 Champa. A Spring International representative will meet you at the Blue Bear with a Spring International Language Center sign.
