Donations Surpass $10,000 for Rainbow Scholarship
NAFSA’s Rainbow SIG and the Fund for Education Abroad (FEA), a nonprofit dedicated to offering study abroad scholarships, have received more than $10,000 for FEA’s Rainbow Scholarship, doubling the fundraising goal for 2013. Thanks to a successful Rainbow Day of Giving campaign on December 3, two study abroad scholarships will be awarded to deserving LGBTQ students in 2014.
Rainbow SIG co-chairs George Kacenga and Brita Doyle, along with members Andy Coleman and Wendy Gaudin, helped promote the Rainbow Day of Giving in coordination with Kate McPhail, executive director of FEA. The Rainbow Scholarship allows LGBTQ students to experience the life-changing experience of studying abroad, and 2014 marks the first year with two available scholarships. Students applications for 2014-15 are due January 14, 2014.
