The outreach coordinator serves as a member-at-large on EA RP and is appointed by the VPPPP.

Major Functions

  • Lead EA RP efforts to ensure conference content related to government issues is timely and of interest to conference attendees, working closely with the EA RP government liaison.
  • Work with EA KC regional outreach coordinator to distribute education abroad regulatory practice changes and updates, position vacancies, and information on regional conference sessions.
  • Work with the NAFSA Education Abroad Services staff on projects related to government issues affecting the field of education abroad, including updates to the NAFSA website.
  • Liaise with the FBI and relevant CAL country teams that have FBI processes involved on regulatory matters and clearance processes for US student visas.
  • Proactively work with CAL to facilitate FBI speakers at NAFSA regional conferences and the NAFSA annual conference, when possible.
  • Proactively work with the EA RP government liaison to identify emerging regulatory policies that affect the field of education abroad.
  • Assist in announcing changes related to education abroad regulatory practice and updates via NAFSA network discussion forums, regional listservs, and other listservs relevant to the field of education abroad.
  • Work with NAFSA Education Abroad Services staff on collaboration with government entities and the EA RP government liaison, as assigned by the committee chair.
  • Serve on a subcommittee or task forces, as assigned.
  • Work on other duties as assigned by chair when there is no activity related to annual or regional conferences.
