As assigned by the committee chair, work with NAFSA staff on collaboration with government entities or other higher education associations related to financial aid. This position is appointed by the vice president for public policy and practice.

Major Functions and Responsibilities

  • Maintains attentiveness to U.S. financial aid regulations affecting students’ participation in education abroad programs by observing, prompting, and participating in online discussions forums and reading NAFSA.news.
  • Collaborate with with NAFSA staff and EA RP Financial Aid Subcommittee on collaboration with government entities or other higher education associations related to financial aid.
  • Work with the NAFSA regulatory practice staff on issues and projects related to financial aid and affecting the field of education abroad; specifically regulations related to U.S. Federal Student Aid, VA Benefits, and tax issues.
  • Collaborate with EA KC Financing Education Abroad Subcommittee.
  • Lead session or workshop on financial aid regulations at the NAFSA annual conference and provide leadership to organize financial aid sessions at regional conferences.
