This article from the Fall 2003 issue
of International Educator magazine
explores a study of one institution's short-term programs showing how
participating students grow in ways their stay-at-home peers do not.
The survey of short-term study abroad programs was conducted by staff at the
University of Delaware's Center for International Studies with help from the
Institutional Research and Planning Office. Data from the survey confirm these
programs have broad-based benefits to students, regardless of program-specific
goals and
structures.
