The NAFSA Board of Directors passed a resolution on diversity to guide its work and the work of NAFSA leadership groups. NAFSA has since continued to commit resources to addressing diversity and underrepresentation in Education Abroad, including the creation of the Education Abroad Knowledge Community (EA KC) Diversity and Inclusion in Education Abroad Subcommittee.

Pursuant to a June 15, 2012 memorandum issued by the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, individuals who came to the United States before they were 16 years of age and meet certain criteria may be considered for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status. Like many of their peers in higher education, these undocumented students are also interested in studying abroad.
