Keynote Address

James P. Honan, EdD, senior lecturer on education and co-chair of the Institute for Educational Management (IEM), Graduate School of Education, Harvard University, will offer leadership strategies for navigating volatility in international education.

9:15 a.m.-10:30 a.m.

Perspectives in Higher Education

This session will feature a dynamic Q&A interview with thought leaders who explore the state of the field from varied perspectives, including industry and workforce development, government and policy, as well as institutional strategy and management. Confirmed panelists include Tanya I. Garcia, PhD, associate director of postsecondary policy research and associate research professor (Georgetown University Center on Education and the Workforce); David Phinnemore, PhD, professor of European politics, Jean Monnet chair in European political science and dean of education in the faculty of arts, humanities and social sciences (Queen’s University Belfast); and Ben Kennedy, founder and CEO (Kennedy & Company).

Roundtable Discussions: Applying Leadership and Management Tools

Participants reflect and share how concepts and principles of leadership might be applied on their campuses.

Lessons Learned: Voices from the Field
 

Senior international officers will share experiences and case studies from their own institutions in an interactive format.

Confirmed panelists include Kate Jennings, director, international student services, (Vancouver Island University).

Roundtable Discussions: Case Study Exercise

Confer with peers to develop solutions to the leadership challenges shared by senior international officer panelists.
