On August 20, NAFSA hosted a free virtual brown bag featuring the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Office of Academic Engagement (OAE) (280kb Adobe PDF). OAE was created in 2011 to strengthen outreach efforts and improve relationships with the academic community.

Among OAE's focus areas is "advancing the opportunities for international students to study in America while maintaining the integrity of the process." OAE also facilitates the work of the Homeland Security Academic Advisory Council (HSAAC) (310kb Adobe PDF), on which NAFSA CEO and Executive Director Marlene Johnson serves. This brown bag was an opportunity to learn more about how the work of OAE and HSAAC intersects with your work.
