Crossing Paths, Crossing Cultures

Conceived as a means to bring study abroad and international students together to visually share their respective cross-cultural experiences in a meaningful way, Crossing Paths, Crossing Cultures, an international photo competition and workshop, far exceeded expectations.

The program's capstone event, an awards ceremony and reception, brought university and community constituents together for the first time to recognize one of the most important and life changing events of a student's academic career—studying abroad.

Visibility continued as the photo exhibit traveled throughout campus and beyond producing additional outcomes:

• A new reentry workshop as a required service component for scholarship winners;
• A new student organization—Crossing Paths, Crossing Cultures International Club;
• Increased requests for presentations on Georgia State University's (GSU) international programs; and
  
• The event continued to be a cornerstone of GSU's International Education Week.
