Collaborating Together to Implement International Education Week

International Education Week (IEW) provided the opportunity for three schools Florida A&M University (FAMU), Florida State University (FSU), and Tallahassee Community College (TCC) the opportunity to plan and to implement joint activities that benefited students at the three institutions and the Tallahassee community in general.

Their objectives were to:
  • Increase the global awareness of students, staff, and faculty and the communities of FAMU, FSU, and TCC
  • Demonstrate that international students and scholars are valued as integral members of the Tallahassee community
  • Increase collaboration between FAMU, FSU, and TCC in implementing joint activities focused on global issues and international awareness
Activities during the week included:
  • Students forum on "America's New War: Student Cry for Help - a model U.N. event
  • "Experience the Beauty of Africa," a program promoting FSU's study abroad programs in Ghana and South Africa
  • "Lessons Learned through International Study," a panel discussion with U.S. and international students
  • "Germany 2002," a program promoting FSU's study abroad programs in Munich and Dresden, Germany
  • "International Dance and International Students/Scholars Reception," to celebrate diversity
  • "International Readers Festival," presentations, displays, and readings by international students
