Building Bridges with Our East African Muslim Neighbors

This project promoted awareness and partnerships among the Augsburg College and East African Muslim communities and involved the following major activities:

• Walking tours of the cedar-Riverside neighborhood with East African guides to a community center, mosque, charter school, and East African-owned businesses;
• Community-wide interfaith convocation of prayers and readings, followed by an interfaith discussion forum;
• International forum with a panel of faculty, students, and community members;
• International cultural displays in the student center;
• International education chapel led by faculty, staff, and students who studied in Africa; and
  
• A social event with Somali women from the neighborhood.
