(Re)Discovering North Carolina: An Orientation and Re-entry Program for Exchange Students
The original objectives of the program were threefold: 1) to introduce new international exchange students to Raleigh and North Carolina history and culture, 2) to facilitate the formation of peer groups that integrate international exchange students and U.S. study abroad returnees, and 3) to involve U.S. returnees with international activities on campus as quickly as possible, in order to begin a successful reentry process.Activities included a half-day tour of historic Raleigh and the North Carolina Museum of Art, and a day-long visit to the North Carolina coast, including guided visits to a Civil War fort and historic Wilmington.
