International Festival: Bridging the Cultural Divide

The International Friendship Society (IFS), supported by the Office of International Business Programs, sponsored Tennessee State University's (TSU) first Multi-Cultural Student Celebration. The celebration was organized to:
  • Recognize international students, stimulate, and strengthen interaction among them, their U.S. peers, faculty/staff, and encourage their participation in campus activities;
  • Educate and promote intercultural awareness and appreciation among students and faculty/staff at TSU; and
  • Promote university relations and interaction with agencies/corporations in the community that do business internationally and with the community-at-large.
There were between 300-500 guests who enjoyed ethnic food, intercultural entertainment, and displays from 16 different countries. The entire event was student driven.
