Student Assistance, World Affairs Council of Oregon Series, Democracy: A Global Experiment

As part of its ongoing programs on world affairs, the World Affairs Council of Oregon organized a series of lecture-presentations intended to examine the state of democracy in various regions around the world.

International students and U.S. study abroad returnees were engaged in the participation of the planning, promotion, and implementation of the statewide lecture series and supplementary activities. Participants planned campus activities, identified and developed resources, and engaged in dialogue with community members related to three lectures focused on distinct global regions.

The series also gathered reflections on the state of democracy in the United States from persons familiar with the struggles to establish democracy in these same regions.
