Davis Projects for Peace Initiative Grant for 2008
I House UC Berkeley has submitted project proposals to the Davis 100 Projects for Peace Initiative Project funded by the Kathryn Wasserman Davis Foundation. These 100 $10,000.00 fellowships are part of her Davis 100 Projects for Peace Initiative. Ms. Davis turned 100 this year and decided to celebrate by creating 100 peace projects fellowships, which she wanted to be grassroots and implementable anywhere in the world.
In late January, the UC Berkeley International House's jury of seven members completed the judging of Davis Projects for Peace Initiative. The judges were the following:

- Allan Solomonow: Professor, Peace and Conflict Studies UC Berkeley
- Michael Watts: Professor, Geography, Director of Rotary Peace Center at UC Berkeley
Submissions and Grantees
There were a total of 8 submissions covering a wide range of impressive perspectives. The jury sent its recommendations to New York and we have recently received the decisions from the Davis Projects for Peace. We are extremely pleased that of the following submissions the four italics entries have been funded by the Davis Projects for Peace Initiative grant for 2008.- Creation of Sustainable Livelihoods through Development of New Writers Writing Workshop in Cambodia - Aaron Sorenson
