NAFSA and its annual conference travel coordinator, Travel Partners LLC, have negotiated special fares with various airline carriers for your travel to Houston, Texas.

NAFSA Shuttle Information

NAFSA will provide shuttle service to hotels in the NAFSA room block that are not within walking distance from the George R. Brown Convention Center. Shuttle route maps will be available at each hotel lobby and at the Conference Information and Hospitality Center in the GRBCC. For shuttle inquiries and questions, please call +1.800.251.6015.

Transportation Within Houston

  • TRAINMETRO Rail offers ways to travel within the heart of the city with access to downtown, midtown, the Museum District, and Texas Medical Center. METRO also offers bus services. Learn more.
  • BICYCLE: Prefer to bike around the city? Check out Houston B-cycle, Houston's newest bike sharing program. 
  • CAR: The GRBCC has a 1,600-space parking garage located at the corner of Polk Street and Avenida de las Americas and is connected to the GRBCC and the Hilton Americas Hotel by Level 2 skywalks. Find parking near the GRBCC.

Travel to Houston

Travel Partners is the only authorized travel agent NAFSA is using for air arrangements. In addition, all hotel reservations for conference need to be made through NAFSA's housing bureau, not through a travel agent or third-party Web site. Learn more about housing.

NAFSA has also arranged for travel discounts over conference dates through United Airlines. Discounts also apply to United codeshare flights operated by Continental Airlines, Continental Express, Lufthansa, and All Nippon Airways.

Airport Information

There are two major airports that service the Houston area: George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Hobby Airport. Intercontinental Airport is approximately 30 minutes from downtown Houston. Hobby Airport is 20 minutes from downtown Houston. NAFSA conference attendees can receive a discount on shuttle service between the airport and downtown Houston with SuperShuttle. NAFSA's discount code is 82Z22. No reservation is required to travel from the airport, but you must make a reservation for travel back to the airport. Traveling to Houston from Abroad

If you are not a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident you may require a nonimmigrant visa to enter the United States. Nonimmigrant visas are for international travelers coming to the U.S. temporarily.
