Grants

NAFSA serves the field of international education by providing grant opportunities to overseas educational advisers. Overseas educational advisers work with students, scholars, and trainees interested in opportunities for education, research, and training in the United States. They play a vital role in the development of services and opportunities for NAFSA members.

ETS Excellence Awards for Overseas Advising Centers	Travel Grants for Overseas Educational Advisers
The purpose of this award is to recognize and reward the outstanding and innovative initiatives of overseas educational advising centers and the important role that they play in the field of international educational exchange.	These grants are designed to promote professional development and retention for talented overseas educational advisers and regional leaders in the field of international education.

Former Grant Programs

Advisers' Professional Partnership Program
This program sponsored visits to EducationUSA advising centers for ten U.S.-based international educators to improve their understanding of the role and work of EducationUSA advisers as well as strengthen ties between advisers and U.S.-based international educators and their home institutions. During the one-week visit, participants gave presentations on topics such as U.S. higher education, the admissions process, and campus life. The APPP Program closed its last cycle of competition in July of 2006.
Grants for Training Programs
The Collaborative Training Grant (CTG) program provided grant awards up to $10,000 for the development and implementation of innovative international education training activities, services and/or products for international educators and students alike. CTG training ideas and highlights have been included in the CTG Model Program Library. The CTG program represented the collaborative efforts of NAFSA, U.S. institutions of higher learning, and international education-related organizations interested in training international educators, faculty, staff, community members, and volunteers who work with international and/or U.S. study abroad students. The CTG Program closed its last cycle of competition in July of 2007.
Institutional Grants for Student Programming
Cooperative Grants Program (COOP): Since 1974, NAFSA's Cooperative Grants Program has provided seed funding for 977 creative programs involving more than 460,000 U.S. and international students and scholars, community members, faculty, and campus staff. The Cooperative Grants Program closed its last cycle of competition with the summer incentive grants in 2004. Many of these programs have been included in the COOP Model Programs Library.

Student Scholarships

NAFSA does not offer scholarships for students wishing to study in the United States or abroad. However, NAFSA does compile information on how to obtain scholarships for study.
