Engaging Stakeholders in Internationalization:
Building and Implementing a Shared Vision Tuesday, May 29, 2012
Hilton Americas-Houston
Houston, Texas
Comprehensive internationalization affects and engages a multitude of stakeholders on and off the campus. Senior international officers are responsible for catalyzing, facilitating, and integrating expectations and objectives in the various stakeholder communities.
At the 2012 Symposium on Leadership, participants will analyze and discuss the impact of stakeholders in successful internationalization efforts. Keynote speakers will examine the role of senior international officers in governmental initiatives and strategies designed to achieve effective organizational change. Presenters from inside and outside the United States will explore stakeholder relationships and ways in which international education leaders can integrate many voices into internationalization efforts.
Examples of successful cooperation between senior international officers, faculty, senior administrators, businesses, and governmental agencies will be spotlighted. Participants will be able to engage in discussions to determine if similar efforts would be of value in their own context.
The final part of the symposium will look at effective strategies for stakeholder engagement that can be shared among senior international officers and used to create sustainability of internationalization efforts through continued involvement with its supporters. It is through the steady efforts to shape and implement a shared vision of internationalization across the broad spectrum of interests that intersect on a campus that comprehensive internationalization can progress.
