Overview of Trainer Corps Roles

NAFSA's Trainer Corps members fill these primary roles:
  1. Trainers and Table Moderators
  2. Lead Trainers
  3. Workshop Deans
Below is an overview of the Trainer Corps roles.  For more information, you can view detailed descriptions.

Trainers & Table Moderators

Trainer Corps members deliver NAFSA's Core Education Program (CEP) workshops. To be a trainer at one of NAFSA’s CEP workshops, you need to be a Trainer Corps member.

NAFSA members become part of the Trainer Corps in two ways.
  1. Track 1 is for those who have some training experience, and requires attendance at the Training-of-the-Trainers workshops held at the annual conference.
  2. Track 2 allows members to be accepted into the Trainer Corps immediately, based on your extensive training experience.
For a number of NAFSA’s larger workshops, Trainer Corps members also serve as “table moderators,” facilitating the discussion among a group of 6-9 people at various times during the workshop. While not all table moderators must be Trainer Corps members, it is encouraged.

Trainer Corps members serve for a term of three years. At the end of the three-year term, Trainer Corps members may reapply for available positions. Trainer Corps members are expected to be willing to train up to two workshops each year.

Lead Trainers

Each time a NAFSA workshop is offered, the training team is led by a Lead Trainer. Lead Trainers are responsible for overall delivery of the workshop curriculum, ensuring that the training team is well prepared. All Lead Trainers must be Trainer Corps members.

Workshop Deans

The workshop Dean is responsible for ensuring the CEP workshop curriculum materials are up-to-date. The Knowledge Community appoints a workshop Dean for each of its CEP workshops.
