Study Abroad for All: Identifying, Recruiting & Supporting Underrepresented Groups
As the number of study abroad participants increases, international educators still find it challenging to close the participation gap that exists between those that do and do not study abroad. This presentation outlines how some advisers overcome challenges faced when advising and supporting various underrepresented groups. It also highlights resources that currently exist in and outside of the association. Topics covered include statistical trends in study abroad and the Lincoln Commission, challenges and best practices, advisers not of color advising students of color, and resources available for advisers and students.
