Reaching Out to Hispanic Students

An article by Dr. Pat Burr available on the IIENetwork site – "Building Study Abroad Acceptance among Hispanic Students: The Value of Talking to the Hispanic Family" – describes the reasoning and results of a project which sought to define needs and concerns of Hispanic students and their families regarding education abroad opportunities. The author outlines one model that has been effective at the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX, for designing programs abroad that address those concerns and increase the numbers of Hispanic students studying abroad at this institution.
