Canadian Universities and the Bologna Process, AUCC Statement

On June 20, 2008, the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada released a statement entitled Canadian Universities and the Bologna Process. As the report points out, the Bologna Process is a uniquely European initiative and its influence and impact on higher education is being felt throughout the world. AUCC's Standing Advisory Committee on International Relations carried out an extensive examination to discern what implications there are for Canadian universities and how they can best respond to the changes underway in Europe as part of the Bologna Process.The statement identifies the main implications for Canadian universities and outlines several next steps to be pursued by AUCC. As noted in the statement, the engagement of Canadian universities with the Bologna Process has the potential to strengthen Canadian-European relations through internationalization activities such as two-way student mobility and joint degree programming.
