This 12-hour workshop is designed for internationally-based newcomers in the field of overseas educational advising with responsibility for advising on study in the United States. It will provide participants with conceptual foundation, practical knowledge, and skills for carrying out their responsibilities. Emphasis will be placed on the following:

- Professionalism and ethical practice
- Advising techniques and processes
- Advising resources
- Networks and networking
Workshop Objectives
- Become more knowledgeable of the profession of Overseas Advising in International Education
- Enable advisers to develop a network resource for future use
- Understand the process of providing information and advising services
- Identify the roles of an Overseas Educational Adviser at each stage of the advising process
- Know the networks that are useful to Overseas Educational Advisers
