U.S. State Department Recognizes NAFSA Senior Policy Staff Member Vic Johnson for Advocacy Leadership
WASHINGTON, June 4, 2008 - The U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Consular Affairs recently presented Vic Johnson, NAFSA's Senior Advisor for Public Policy, an award for his career-long dedication to strengthening national security through international education.
Ambassador Janice Jacobs, Acting Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs, presented the award on Friday May 31, 2008, during a gathering at NAFSA's annual conference in Washington, D.C.
Ambassador Jacobs commended Vic Johnson on his career dedicated to building bridges of understanding throughout the world through international exchanges. She also praised his instrumental role in developing a close working relationship between NAFSA and the U.S. Department of State in seeking sensible visa policies in a post 9/11 world.
The award expresses appreciation "for sustained leadership at NAFSA, as an advocate for the educational community, working with State and other government agencies on a student visa policy that keeps our country safe and welcomes qualified students."
