Join colleagues from across the country in the nation’s capital to advocate with Members of Congress on the following issues: 1) study abroad and 2) the U.S.'s ability to compete for international students and scholars.
This event spans two days and comprises an integrated set of advocacy training and practice activities, anchored by visits to each participant’s congressional delegation on Capitol Hill.

- Explore the fundamentals of advocacy.
- Gain insights into the workings of a congressional office.
- Hear about current political trends as they relate to NAFSA’s legislative priorities.
- Share information with your representative and two senators about the impact of international education on your campus and our local community.

| 2:30pm - 4:00pm | Introductory Session on Advocacy for first-time participants First time participants are required to attend this meeting. Advocacy day veterans are also welcome. The briefing will cover the fundamentals of advocacy and will offer insight into the workings of a congressional office. |

| 4:15pm - 6:15pm | Issues Briefing and Strategizing Session All participants are required to attend this important briefing on international education and exchange issues. Participants will be provided with information and materials for their meeting on the Hill and will have the opportunity to work with other members and NAFSA's public policy staff to develop an effective strategy for meeting with their elected representatives. |
