Act Locally to Advance the National Agenda
While NAFSA continues to advocate for a national policy on international education, members are encouraged to build momentum for this effort by garnering state-level support for international education through the passage of state resolutions. Resolutions are legislative documents that express a state’s position on a specific issue. By having a chorus of states declare support for study abroad and foreign student exchanges, we send a signal to Washington that advancing international education is a national priority.NAFSA’s goal is to have resolutions that recognize and promote international education passed in 25 states by the May 2008 Annual Conference. To date, 13 states have passed resolutions and NAFSAns in several other states are actively seeking resolutions.
