DHS Secretary Corrects Record on Questioning Schools’ Compliance with SEVIS

Earlier this year, Marlene Johnson, NAFSA Executive Director and CEO requested that DHS Secretary Michael Chertoff correct the record when, during a Congressional hearing, he questioned schools' reporting of international student activities and the visa issuance process. Secretary Chertoff responded stating that there was "no evidence currently pointing to widespread noncompliance of schools with SEVP requirements" and acknowledging the positive work of NAFSA and its members.
