State Announces Visa Improvements for Students, Scholars in Sciences

During NAFSA's 2009 Annual Conference & Expo in Los Angeles, the State Department announced important changes to the visa clearance process to relieve lengthy delays experienced earlier this year by international students, scholars, and researchers studying in the sciences. State announced they have added resources and revised procedures to help reduce processing times for routine applications from students and scholars requiring a Visas Mantis clearance to two weeks.

NAFSAns should see the results of these changes quite soon, and the State Department expects these processing changes to be permanent. NAFSA has long advocated for these improvements, and applauds the State Department for working with partner agencies to resolve these delays.
