Eight Institutions Profiled for Outstanding Campus Internationalization

Five U.S. higher education institutions have been awarded the 2006 Senator Paul Simon Award for Campus Internationalization and are featured in a major report published by NAFSA: Association of International Educators titled Internationalizing the Campus 2006: Profiles of Success at Colleges and Universities. Three other exemplary programs are also highlighted in the report in shorter spotlights.

Five institutions, profiled in depth, received the Senator Paul Simon Award for Campus Internationalization:

• Arcadia University in Pennsylvania
• Concordia College in Minnesota
• Earlham College in Indiana
• Michigan State University
• Purdue University in Indiana

Three schools are highlighted for exemplary programs:

• Babson College in Massachusetts
• Old Dominion University in Virginia
• University of Richmond in Virginia

A distinguished selection jury decided which schools from a strong and diverse set of nominees would be chosen for the award and inclusion in the 2006 report. The members of the selection jury were:

• Stephen Dunnett (jury chair), vice provost for international education, University at Buffalo, State University of New York
• Jon Booth, deputy director, division of international programs abroad, Syracuse University
• Linda Melville, international advisement specialist, University of New Mexico
• Wendy Weiner, senior vice president of academic affairs and CEO south campus, Community College of Allegheny (now at Chatham College)
• James H. Williams, director, international education program, George Washington University
