GAO status report on the transfer of immigration functions from INS to DHS

On October 14, 2004, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a study on the transfer of immigration functions from INS to DHS. The report identified and assessed three main areas associated with the transition: “communication and coordination among immigration programs in DHS; integration of immigration and customs investigators in ICE, and administrative services and systems used following the transition into DHS.” AMDOC#: 200410027
