NAFSA Comments on State Department Sanctions Proposed Rule

On July 23, 2007, NAFSA, as a member of the Alliance for International Educational and Cultural Exchange, submitted a comment letter regarding the May 31 proposed rule, "Exchange Visitor Program—Sanctions and Terminations."

The comment focuses on concerns with changes that would provide inadequate opportunities for due process, and impose inadequate standards of transparency and accountability on the State Department’s Exchange Visitor Program. The comment goes on to request the State Department convene a public hearing to allow for an open exchange of views between the Department and the sponsor community.
