SEVIS Releases

SEVIS Release 6.0

The estimated production release date of SEVIS 6.0 is early February 2009.

SEVIS 6.0 Resources:

• A 90-day SEVIS 6.0 alpha environment batch testing period began October 16, 2008. Read the SEVP broadcast message containing links related to the Alpha environment.

Features being tested in Batch for SEVIS Release 6.0 include:

• 17-month STEM OPT extensions via Batch, including STEM OPT 6 Month Reporting
  
• OPT edits via Batch: Schools will be able to edit all OPT fields via Batch prior to adjudication (i.e., Requested or Pending status). For Approved status OPT, schools will only be able to update the employer name, employer address, course relevance, completion type, student remarks, and remarks up until the OPT end date.
• OPT student remarks will display on the Student Information page of SEVIS RTI and print on Page 1, Field 9 of the student Form I-20.
• Pre-Completion/Post-Completion OPT Indicator. When adding or editing an F-1 student OPT segment via Batch, schools will have the option to identify the OPT as either pre-completion or post-completion.
• Filed/Waitlisted Cap-Gap Extension Indicator. This will allow Batch users to indicate that an H-1B application has been filed or waitlisted, to facilitate cap-gap extensions of OPT.
• For J exchange visitor programs, the Student Intern Category is being tested for this release.

SEVIS Release 5.10

The production release date of SEVIS 5.10 was August 8, 2008.

  This document describes the SEVIS Release 5.10 system changes to both batch and RTI (Real Time Interactive), in both the F/M and J environments.
  
• SEVISTable.xsd for Release 5.10
  SEVP is providing this XSD file in advance of the upgrade to Release 5.10 to allow Batch schools, programs, and vendors to make necessary modifications to handle the updated table. During the upgrades of both the Beta Testing and Production environments to Release 5.10, this table will be placed in the correct schema locations for each environment. Please note that the SEVISTable.xsd is the only schema file that will be updated with Release 5.10.

  The SEVIS Application Program Interface (API) specifies the batch interface between the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and the institutions' internal systems (user systems).
