NAFSA Education Abroad Regulatory Summit

One of the biggest issues facing students and administrators is understanding the applicability of federal regulations to the education abroad experience. Amid all the details and challenges of sending students abroad, it can be easy to overlook the impact of federal regulations on the everyday work of managing programs overseas. Regulations related to the accessibility of financial aid and compliance with Title IX and the Clery Act were not crafted with an international context in mind—they were written for U.S. campuses. This has led to significant uncertainty about how the regulations should be interpreted for the education abroad context.

Gain insights and up-to-date information on these regulations at the NAFSA Education Abroad Regulatory Summit. Participants in this one-day event in Washington, D.C., will hear directly from government officials on policy and regulatory interpretation for education abroad. This event is “off the record.” Each panel presentation will include a Q&A portion.

The NAFSA Education Abroad Regulatory Summit takes place Wednesday, March 21, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (EDT) at the NAFSA office in Washington, D.C., (1307 New York Ave. NW, 20005). Advance registration is required.

Registration cost is $85. The cost includes lunch and coffee/tea that will be provided during refreshment breaks.

Cancellations, Refunds, And Changes To Registration

Cancellations or requests for changes to registration for the NAFSA Education Abroad Regulatory Summit must be made in writing and received no later than March 7. Any cancellations received after March 7 will not be refunded.

A $40 (USD) cancellation fee will be deducted from registration refunds. If NAFSA cancels the event, all registrants will receive notification of the cancellation and a full refund.

Refunds, if approved, will be processed four to six weeks after the summit. If payment is made by credit card, a credit will be issued to your credit card account; otherwise, a refund check will be issued.
