The applicability of federal regulations to education abroad as a professional area of practice is increasingly complex. Amid all the details and challenges of sending students abroad, it can be easy to overlook the impact of federal regulations on the everyday work of managing programs. Regulations related to federal financial aid, Title IX, and the Clery Act, as well as veterans' educational benefits were not crafted with an international context in mind—they were written for U.S. campuses and all of these regulations have seen changes in the past several years.  As a result, there is uncertainty about how regulations should be interpreted in the education abroad context.

Gain insights and up-to-date information on these regulations at the NAFSA Education Abroad Regulatory Summit. Participants in this one-day virtual event in will hear directly from government officials on policy and regulatory interpretation for education abroad. This event is “off the record” and therefore will not be recorded or offered on-demand. Each government presentation will include time for Q&A and breakout rooms for further discussion with your peers.

A tentative schedule is below, pending speaker availability.
