The NAFSA Rising Star Young Leader Award is given annually in recognition of a professional who has impacted the field of international education during the first 5 years of the recipient's area of work. The rising star will have demonstrated a commitment to internationalization and an ingenuity of thought that have the potential for substantial and lasting influence on global education.

2019 Award Honoree

Becca AbuRakia-Einhorn is the coordinator of education abroad at Gallaudet University. Gallaudet University is the only liberal arts bilingual university in the world that focuses on teaching, research, and engagement communicating through both American Sign Language and English. She is a NAFSA Academy graduate, a new member of NAFSA Trainer Corps and has presented at the NAFSA Annual Conference, CCIS Conference, and the CIEE Annual Conference. AbuRakia-Einhorn holds a BA from Pomona College, an MA in international affairs from American University's School of International Service, and an MPA from American University's School of Public Affairs. She was recently named the Diversity Abroad EDIIE Rising Star for 2019.
