Comment Moderation

Comments are not moderated, but are subject to review. When commenting, please adhere to the same standards of behavior you follow in real life. Treat this conversation like a face–to-face discussion, and use common courtesy and appropriate language. NAFSA may employ comment moderation at its discretion.

Identification of Commenters

Commenters are expected to register their full name and email address. Email information will not appear on the blog. We ask that commenters use their real name as their screen name for posting comments, but a different screen name can be used if desired. Comments using fake email addresses will be removed.

No Personal Attacks, Offensive Comments, or Threatening Comments

Comments of this kind will be removed. NAFSA welcomes a diversity of viewpoints, but conversations should remain civil and professional. Comments should contribute something substantive to the topic under discussion.

Length of Comments

Please keep comments succinct and on-point (2-3 normal-sized paragraphs). Comments of more than 500 words may be removed. We may also remove dismissive comments that add no value to the conversation, particularly those that lack a coherent argument or evidence. Relevant links are welcome (see below).

Editing Comments

NAFSA reserves the right to edit comments at its discretion. Obvious spelling and grammatical errors may be edited, and any substantial edits will be notated at the end of the comment. At no time will we attempt to alter the core meaning of a comment.

Links, Signatures, Names, and Email Addresses

  • Only post links that add value to the conversation. Excessive, inappropriate, or broken links will be removed.
  • Signatures are acceptable. Please limit them to 2-3 lines.

Minimize Advertising Jobs, Products, Services, and Events

Inappropriate posts include, but are not limited to, those containing advertising, copyrighted materials, or complete job postings. All blog comments should add value to the discussion.
