Network Leader, Curriculum Internationalization and Intercultural Training (CIIT)

Within the framework of NAFSA's Strategic Plan, this position will:

1. Coordinate the content of the CIIT network, including:
   • Reviewing, revising, and promoting resources to benefit the CIIT network community;
   • Identifying critical trends and issues and championing responses and initiatives that advance international education and shape the field; and
   • Collaborating with the TLS KC team and NAFSA staff partner/s to improve the user experience on the CIIT network and partner with other network leaders on cross-network resources and discussions.
2. Monitor and manage the discussion forum on the CIIT network, including:
   • Seeding discussion and exchange on the discussion forum, as appropriate;
   • Responding promptly to issues and requests from subscribers and notifying the staff partner/s of technical issues as they arise;
   • Ensuring adherence to the network.NAFSA Code of Conduct; and
   • Supporting and promoting connections among stakeholders, partners, and other organizations.
3. Lead the ITLC Subcommittee, including:
   • Setting up and leading meetings of the subcommittee at least once per quarter;
   • Engaging subcommittee members in developing content, managing discussions, and promoting resources on the network;
   • Engaging subcommittee members in promoting the CIIT network and its resources broadly to international education professionals with related interests; and
   • Developing and implementing a schedule for updating, developing, and posting resources in alignment with the TLS work plan.
4. Review TLS proposal submissions for the annual conference.
5. Represent the TLS KC at the NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo by participating in events such as poster fairs, the TLS KC Welcome & Update Meeting, and TLS KC networking activities.
6. Work closely with the TLS KC team and staff partner/s on projects and coordinate the development of relevant TLS KC resources or programs.
7. Work on other TLS KC special projects as needed.

In recent years, this position has coordinated projects and events such as:

• Seeded discussions on the CIIT network.
• Coordinated guest blog posts focused on internationalization of the curriculum and other topics written from a variety of perspectives.
• Development and dissemination of annotated bibliographies and other resources around topics of interest to the CIIT network.
• Collaborative workshop and session proposals for the annual conference.

• Assure NAFSA membership through the length of the leadership term.
• Confirm for a two-year term, renewable once upon agreement with the TLS KC leadership, for a maximum term of four years.
• Prepare for and participate in NAFSA leadership and TLS KC leadership team meetings throughout the year. Most meetings are virtual.
• Dedicate 5-7 hours per month, depending on the volume of activity on the CIIT network and TLS KC team responsibilities.
• Foster an inclusive environment in alignment with the NAFSA Diversity and Inclusion Statement.

• Experience in international education, particularly in the areas of internationalizing teaching, learning, and curriculum and intercultural training.
• Ability to identify and develop resources relevant to the community of CIIT network subscribers.
• Demonstrated experience with effective strategic planning, management, networking, and task delegation.
• Strong coordination, analytical, oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a team in an outcomes-based environment.
• Commitment to access and respond to e-mail in a timely fashion as well as communicate using online electronic tools/systems plus the online workspace structure.
• Willingness to adopt organization-wide perspectives and strategic priorities, including perspectives on volunteer development and management.
• Ability to meet the volunteer commitment outlined and planning calendar deadlines.
