The Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship Knowledge Community (TLS KC) focuses on curriculum internationalization, research that informs practice, and intercultural communication and serves faculty, administrators, graduate students/post-docs, researchers, intercultural trainers, cross-cultural counselors, and other professionals in international education. The Programs and Resources Coordinator is a member of the TLS KC leadership team and is involved in a variety of TLS KC programs and projects, including the TLS KC’s Innovative Research in International Education Award, TLS KC events, and graduate student initiatives.

Major Functions and Responsibilities
Within the framework of NAFSA's Strategic Plan, this position will:
- Coordinate the review process for the TLS KC’s Innovative Research in International Education Award, including:
- Managing communications with all members of the review committee;
- Disseminating the call for submissions broadly to international education professionals within and outside of the NAFSA community;
- Encouraging nominations and applications for current and future award cycles; and
- Serving as the point of contact and responding promptly to issues and requests from potential applicants/nominees regarding the award and the submission process.
- Contribute to discussions for the TLS KC's initiatives to address the needs of graduate students and early career scholar-practitioners, including suggestions for expanding the Scholar-Practitioner Resources Hub.
- Lead the TLS KC team's efforts in organizing and delivering a research-focused event, including:
- Assisting with the development of the theme and program schedule;
- Setting up conference calls with the associated working group of TLS KC member leaders to ensure the program is of the highest quality;
- Identifying potential speakers/panelists, in addition to the TLS Award recipient; and
- Developing and implementing a plan for promotion of the program.
- Seek opportunities to identify or create resources or programs that add value to the TLS KC.
- Review TLS proposals for the NAFSA annual conference.
- Represent the TLS KC at the NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo by participating in events such as poster fairs, the TLS KC Welcome & Update Meeting, and TLS KC networking activities.
- Work closely with the TLS KC team and staff partner/s on projects and coordinate the development of relevant TLS KC resources or programs.
- Work on other TLS KC special projects as needed.

In recent years, this position has coordinated projects and events such as:
- Virtual open events to highlight the TLS Award recipient and promote the call for submissions.
- Virtual and in-person meetings to discuss research and trends in the field of international education.
- Creation and dissemination of resources on the TLS networks.
- Workshop and session proposals for the annual conference.
Commitment
- Assure NAFSA membership through the length of the leadership term.
- Confirm for a two-year term, renewable once upon agreement with the TLS KC leadership, for a maximum term of four years.
- Prepare for and participate in NAFSA leadership and TLS KC leadership meetings throughout the year. Most meetings are virtual.
- Review TLS proposals for the annual conference.
- Dedicate 5-7 hours per month, depending on the time of year.
- Foster an inclusive environment in alignment with the NAFSA Diversity and Inclusion Statement.
Qualifications
- Experience or strong interest in research in international education.
- Awareness of emerging and innovative topics of research relevant to scholars and practitioners (and scholar-practitioners) in the field of international education, with the ability to identify and promote relevant resources that will be useful to international educators across different sectors and career levels.
- Demonstrated experience with effective strategic planning, management, networking, and task delegation.
- Strong coordination, analytical, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with a team in an outcomes-based environment.
- Commitment to access and respond to e-mail in a timely fashion as well as communicate using online electronic tools/systems plus the online workspace structure.
- Willingness to adopt organization-wide and strategic priorities, including perspectives on volunteer development and management.
- Ability to meet the volunteer commitment outlined and planning calendar deadlines.
