74 Fed. Reg. 1937 (January 14, 2009)

The rule that would require federal contractors to enroll in E-Verify, originally scheduled to go into effect on January 15, 2000, is delayed by this notice as follows: the rule itself has been assigned a new effective date of January 19, 2009, and applicability of the rule by the government has been delayed until February 20, 2009. The notice states, "Contracting officers shall not include the new [E-Verify] clause at 52.222–54, Employment Eligibility Verification, in any solicitation or contract prior to the applicability date of February 20, 2009."

The applicability of this rule has been further delayed by the federal government. For updates, go to NAFSA's E-Verify for Federal Contractors resource page.
