The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) posted a set of SEVIS 5.8 Training Slides, that show the new functionality that will be included in that release. SEVIS 5.8 is expected to be implemented on April 18, 2008.

The training slides show:
  • Functionality to implement the 17-month STEM F-1 OPT extension
  • Event history that will let the P/DSO to view the history of events recorded in SEVIS (such as the record creation date, I-901 payment date, receipt of system updates from other information systems, SEVIS registration, etc.), including the date of the event, the resulting SEVIS status, and who performed the event in SEVIS.
  • A transfer history function, that will let the DSO see a list of transfer events at both the transfer out and transfer-in schools, for each completed student transfer.
  • A "requested" status for off-campus employment, OPT requests, and M-1 transfer and extensions, that will appear when the recommendation is made in SEVIS.
  • Other enhancements to F/M functionality
The changes in SEVIS functionality in SEVIS 5.8 are available in SEVIS RTI only. The Batch schema has not been updated to incorporate these changes.
