SEVIS Release 6.6 System Changes Include CIP 2010 Codes A November 10, 2010 notice from SEVP describes the changes included in SEVIS Release 6.6, which is scheduled for implementation on Friday night, November 12, 2010 (Note: the originally planned implementation date for this release was October 29, 2010, but SEVP pushed back the implementation to remedy a technical performance issue). The notice also describes how CIP 2000 Codes will be transitioned to CIP 2010 codes within SEVIS 6.6, and what role schools have in that process.

SEVP notified SEVIS users in an email of the following outages:
The Student and Exchange Visitor Program Office will upgrade SEVIS to Release 6.6 on Friday, November 12, 2010. This upgrade requires an outage of the Production environment.

The outage will begin this Friday night at 8:00 PM EST. During the outage, users will not have access to the Production environment. A follow-up SEVIS NOTICE will be sent to users once the upgrade is complete and the Production environment is available.

SEVIS Batch File Processing will be unavailable until the scheduled upgrade is complete. Please refrain from uploading files in the Production environment during the outage. Files uploaded during the outage will receive an error and will have to be re-uploaded once the Production environment is available.

NAFSA's International Student and Scholar Regulatory Practice Committee and its International Student Services Subcommittee has also created a resource to assist schools and exchange visitor programs on managing the transition from CIP 2000 to CIP 2010 codes at their institutions.
