USCIS published a proposed rule on August 22, 2007, which, if finalized as proposed, would:
- Terminate the validity of Alien Registration Cards (Forms I-551, i.e., green cards) that have were issued without expiration dates, and give holders of such cards a 120-day period to apply for replacement cards. The proposal would allow USCIS to notify the public of the termination date of such cards by a subsequent notice published in the Federal Register.
- Amend USCIS regulations to remove references to outdated application procedures for Forms I-551.
- Correct the title and edition date of the ‘‘Application to Replace Lawful Permanent Resident Card,’’ Form I–90.
