Larry BraskampLarry A. Braskamp, PhD
Global Perspective Institute
Larry A. Braskamp graduated from Central College (Pella, IA) and earned his PhD from the University of Iowa, with a dual focus on student learning and development and statistics. He was a faculty member at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and was assistant to the president. Larry has held administrative positions as associate vice chancellor of academic affairs and as dean of applied life studies at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He served as dean of education at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). While at UIC he took a leave from UIC to become the first executive director of the Council of Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). He is president of the Global Perspective Institute, and consults with a number of colleges, universities, and other organizations on institutional leadership and enhancing the global learning of students.

Sara FarleySara Farley
Global Knowledge Initiative
Sara founded GKI with Dr. Nina Fedoroff and Sam Pitroda and currently serves as chief operating officer. She built GKI from a concept to an organization serving more than 60 countries and one that The Rockefeller Foundation designated as one of the “Top 100 Social Innovations for the next century”. Sara believes in the power of the world’s seven billion solvers to connect and to solve the world’s most complex challenges. Collaborative Innovation is her calling card and motivated her to create GKI. Since GKI’s founding in 2009, Sara’s cultivated more than 1000 strategic partners globally, hailing from universities, private sector, government, civil society, and other sectors. She manages design and execution for all GKI programs, including Collaborative Innovation trainings, network optimization programs (e.g., formulating/ sustaining problem-solving networks), and Collaborative Innovation strategy setting (with partners including the World Bank, East African Community, African Development Bank, etc.). Beyond her executive duties at the helm of GKI, Sara continues to thrive on the ground, running trainings and facilitating networks alongside her incredible team. Prior to founding GKI, Sara spent a decade as an innovation strategist for the World Bank and other donor and development organizations, including UNIDO and The Rockefeller Foundation.

Richard KielyRichard Kiely, PhD
Cornell University
Richard Kiely a senior fellow for program evaluation, provides support, guidance, resources, coursework and professional development opportunities for faculty, students, and community members who are interested in community-engaged learning and research. He is interested in learning about the different ways people work together to have a positive impact on the world and the potential role of higher education in facilitating that process. In 2002, Richard received his PhD from Cornell University, and, in 2005, he was recognized nationally as a John Glenn Scholar in Service-Learning for his longitudinal research that led to the development of a transformative service-learning model. From 2002-2006, he was an assistant professor in the Department of Lifelong Education, Policy, and Administration at the University of Georgia, where he taught courses in community development, qualitative research, (global) service-learning, program planning, and learning theory. Returning to Cornell in 2006, Richard co-taught a graduate/undergraduate service-learning course in city and regional planning as part of the New Orleans Planning Initiative (NOPI). The participants in this course developed a comprehensive recovery plan, in conjunction with community partners, for the Ninth Ward in New Orleans. Richard also served as the faculty director of the Cornell Urban Scholars Program (CUSP) and the Cornell Urban Mentor Initiative (CUMI), two university-wide, interdisciplinary service-learning programs. His research focuses primarily on institutional models that foster sustainable campus-community partnerships, as well as the learning processes and outcomes that occur in service-learning courses and community-based research programs.

Cheryl MatherlyCheryl Matherly, EdD
Lehigh University
Cheryl Matherly is the vice president and vice provost for international affairs at Lehigh University. She has nearly 15 years of experience working in international affairs and joined Lehigh in April 2016. She serves as the university’s senior international officer and is charged with providing strategic leadership for its numerous international education programs, including study abroad, international student services, English language programs, international internships, partnership programs, Fulbright programs, UN programs, and the Iacocca Institute. Before coming to Lehigh, Matherly was vice provost for global education at the University of Tulsa for nearly five years and previously served as both assistant provost for global education and associate dean for global education there. She has also served as assistant dean of students for career and international education and as director of the career services center at Rice University in Houston. She has an EdD in education from the University of Houston, an MS in college student personnel administration from Indiana University and a BA, in English literature and political science from the University of New Mexico.

Khanjan MehtaKhanjan Mehta
Lehigh University - Mountaintop Initiative
Khanjan Mehta is the inaugural vice provost for creative inquiry and director of the Mountaintop Initiative at Lehigh University. Mehta champions the creation of learning environments and ecosystems where students, faculty, and external partners come together to increase their capacities for independent inquiry, take intellectual risks and learn from failure, recognize problems and opportunities, and effect constructive and sustainable change. In a previous avatar, Mehta was the founding director of the Humanitarian Engineering and Social Entrepreneurship (HESE) Program, assistant professor of engineering design, and affiliate professor of international affairs at Penn State. Mehta serves as an associate editor for the IEEE Technology and Society Magazine and contributing editor for the Engineering 4 Change portal. His latest book, Solving Problems that Matter (and Getting Paid for It), takes a deep dive into STEM careers in social innovation and global sustainable development.

Jason ScorzaJason A. Scorza, PhD
Farleigh Dickinson University
Jason A. Scorza is professor of political science and philosophy and vice provost for academic and international affairs at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey (USA). In the latter capacity he oversees international global learning programs, global partnerships, and international initiatives. Under his leadership, Fairleigh Dickinson University was recognized with a 2009 Spotlight Award by NAFSA: Association of International Educators for its exceptional use of technology and professional development programs to promote campus internationalization. Scorza earned his PhD in politics at Princeton University and is author of one book, Strong Liberalism: Habits of Mind for Democratic Citizenship (Tufts University Press, 2007) and editor of another book, Higher Education as a Bridge to the Future (Fairleigh Dickinson University Press, 2016).

Dawn Michele WhiteheadDawn Michele Whitehead, PhD
Association of American Colleges and Universities
Dawn Michele Whitehead is the senior director for global learning and curricular change at the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U). At AAC&U, she focuses on advancing practices, strategies, and projects for integrative global learning across the undergraduate curriculum. In her work, she has worked with institutions to develop thematic local and international curricular and co-curricular experiences to provide students with global learning opportunities throughout the undergraduate experience to prepare students to function and thrive in life, work, and citizenship. She has also worked on projects that have integrated high-impact practices across general education and the majors to provide students with consistent, high-quality liberal learning. Whitehead holds a PhD from Indiana University-Bloomington.
