Colloquium on Internationalizing Schools of Medicine and Public Health

Transforming Schools of Medicine and Public Health Through Globalization

Wednesday, May 30
8:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
Houston, Texas

The Colloquium on Internationalizing Schools of Medicine and Public Health will provide a venue to meet and discuss new strategies for incorporating global perspectives in medical education. You can explore the unique opportunities and challenges for schools of medicine, osteopathy, and public health seeking to prepare global-ready graduates and working toward internationalization of their curriculums. Hear from institutions now focusing on internationalizing their curriculums and those with successful internationalization programs. Learn about the issues and challenges impacting their efforts. Leave with best practices and resources you can put into action.

You should attend:

  • If you are charged with developing strategic internationalization plans or incorporating a global perspective into the curriculum.
  • If you work at a school of medicine, osteopathy, or public health or study abroad office and want to network with colleagues preparing future health professionals
  • If you are a dean, faculty member, or program director from a school of medicine, osteopathy, and/or public health.
  • If you want to understand more about internationalization of schools of medicine, osteopathy, and/or public health.

What you will gain from participating:

  • Best practices from leaders in the field of internationalizing medical education.
  • Insights into successful internationalization of schools of medicine, osteopathy, and public health.
  • How your medical school can be the driving force behind internationalizing the entire campus.
  • What curricular content can and should include a global focus.
  • How to prepare future doctors for practice in the increasingly intercultural environment of the United States.
  • Field experience to provide to aspiring doctors to learn about the practice of medicine and related fields outside the United States.
  • What schools of medicine and public health outside the United States are doing that can inform internationalization in the United States.
  • What challenges we must overcome to achieve the goal of internationalization.

Return to your institution with best practices and new strategies on ways to foster medical education with a global perspective.
