Taking the Reins of International Education in Region VI

More than 300 professionals gathered in Lexington, Kentucky, to join in "taking the reins of international education." Attendees were invited to participate in a conference competition focused on the current challenges in international education and how to solve them. Teams of two were presented with a case, brainstormed solutions, and presented their recommendations to a panel of judges. The winners were announced at the Awards Luncheon on Tuesday and awarded with a small prize.

The plenary speech by Dr. Kumble Subbaswamy and all of the workshops, sessions, and networking opportunities were very well received. The special events also set Region VI apart-attendees had the chance to experience two of Kentucky's most well-known traditions, bluegrass and bourbon, by attending a Woodsongs Old Time Radio Hour show or touring the historic Woodford Reserve Distillery. And the region's silent auction raised nearly $700 for the local God's Pantry Food Bank.

Next year's conference in Cincinnati, Ohio (Nov 7-10), promises to be another excellent celebration of international education.
