Symposium on Leadership Thank you to all who attended the 2017 Symposium on Leadership. This year’s Symposium was a success. The theme for the 2018 Symposium on Leadership will be announced this summer.

Brief Overview: The Symposium Keynote speaker Gary Younge, an award-winning British journalist, author, and broadcaster, offered his thoughts on the politics of identity; how the way we define ourselves affect every aspect of our lives; and the implications for higher education leaders. The second session, Perspectives on Campus Diversity and Globalization, featured Brenda J. Allen, University of Colorado-Denver, and Jonathan Jansen, former Vice Chancellor and rector of the University of the Free State in South Africa. This interview-styled session allowed panelists to share their experiences and look at innovative and effective ways to consider diversity and internationalization on campus. The final panel, Lessons Learned: Voices from the Field, featured Lorna Jean Edmonds, Vice Provost for Global Affairs and International Studies at Ohio University; Penelope Pynes, Associate Provost for International Programs at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, and Wolfgang Schlör, Associate Provost for International Initiatives at Georgia State University.

The 2017 Symposium on Leadership-Internationalization & Diversity and Inclusion article will be available by September 2017. Please check out the previous Symposium Series articles listed in the sidebar.
