The 2018 Symposium on Leadership theme, Value vs. Values: Defending International Education in a Complex World, explored the ways volatility in international relations impacted international education; as presented from keynote speaker, Dr. Doris Gray, Director of the Hilary Clinton Center for Women’s empowerment (Morocco). Thought leaders in international education, Alan Ruby (University of Pennsylvania), Andrew Gordon (Diversity Abroad), and Dr. Elizabeth Lyons (National Science Foundation) engaged in an interview panel that explored the attacks and challenges threatening university programs and international priorities.

Providing their thoughtful analysis and real examples, SIOs and university leaders, Dr. Angela Paiva (PUC-RIP University, Brazil), Dr. Sunhyuk Kim (Korea University), Britta Baron (University of Alberta), and Brett Berquist (The University of Auckland) shared how they defended and advanced international education on their campuses and communities.
