The NAFSA Region XII Northern California District Conference will be held in person at Santa Clara University on Monday, March 11, 2024. The Northern CA District team is committed to providing opportunities for professional development, sharing best practices, and networking. With this in mind, this year’s one-day conference will be a mix of sessions and networking events. It will be a great opportunity to pursue professional development, share best practices, meet new and familiar colleagues, and support one another.

Registration

As the field of international education continues to navigate a variety of challenges, the Northern CA District remains committed to making our events and opportunities as informative and engaging as possible. Registration for the 2023 conference will be open beginning in January. The 2023 conference rates are as follows:

Through February 26, 2023, the early bird registration fees are:

  • $100 for NAFSA members
  • $70 for NAFSA student members
  • $70 for NAFSA Life members or NAFSA retired professional members
  • $125 for nonmembers

Starting February 27, 2023, the regular registration fees are:

  • $125 for NAFSA members
  • $85 for NAFSA student members
  • $85 for NAFSA Life members or NAFSA retired professional members
  • $150 for nonmembers

The deadline to register online is March 21, 2023.

You may register on-site by check only at the following rates:

  • $175 for NAFSA members
  • $100 for NAFSA student members
  • $100 for NAFSA Life members or NAFSA retired professional members
  • $175 for nonmembers

NOTE: If you are eligible for comped registration (sponsor, exhibitor, etc.), please contact us to receive your registration codes in advance of finalizing your registration.

Conference Schedule and Format

This year's conference will take place over the span of one full day from 8am-6pm. The conference will consist of 4 session blocks with multiple sessions/events being offered in every block. In addition, attendees will be able to attend the following networking events:

  • Networking breakfast
  • Lunch with exhibitors
  • Coffee break
  • Closing reception

The full conference schedule will be available beginning in early February.

*Please note: NAFSA takes your health and safety seriously. We will be doing our best to make sure you feel as safe as possible during these in-person events. NAFSA expects all attendees to follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on measures to reduce infection from COVID-19. This includes following the CDC’s recommendations on receiving all vaccinations as soon as they are eligible. The latest vaccination guidelines are available here. In addition, all attendees are encouraged to take an at-home COVID-19 rapid antigen test 24 hours before traveling. If you have tested positive for COVID-19, are waiting for COVID-19 test results, have COVID-19 symptoms, or have had close contact with a person who has tested positive for or who has symptoms of COVID-19, please stay home. Please practice everyday preventive actions, including but not limited to social distancing, washing hands often, and monitoring your health daily. Mask wearing at the event is highly encouraged. NAFSA will not require proof of these preventative measures, but calls on the community to act responsibly and with consideration of the health and safety of all attendees. This policy is subject to change based on COVID-19 community levels and updated CDC guidance and/or local regulations. NAFSA cannot be liable for COVID-19 cases arising because of event attendance.

Conference Grant

The Region XII Northern CA District Team is pleased to offer grants to support attendees for the 2023 conference at Napa Valley College! These grants are open to NAFSA members and non-members.

Five grantees will be awarded a maximum of $200 to apply towards conference expenses, which may include: conference registration, 50% of a double room hotel rate, meals, and transportation. Grants will be awarded as reimbursements after the conference upon submission of receipts.

Apply by February 13, 2023! Applicants will be notified prior to the early bird registration deadline.
