Victor Shim, PhD

Associate Vice President
National University of Singapore

Victor Shim is associate vice president at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and leads the Global Relations Office, which sends more than 4,000 students abroad each year on student mobility programs in more than 40 countries. He has previously held other management appointments at NUS, such as head of external relations, director of corporate events management, deputy director of alumni and community relations, director of corporate relations, as well as vice dean for external relations and outreach of the engineering faculty.

Victor is also a professor of mechanical engineering and associate editor of the international journal of impact engineering. He has been a visiting scientist at the Tokyo Institute of Technology and a visiting scholar at University of California, San Diego. He has received awards for Teaching Excellence, Innovative Teaching, Outstanding Service to the Engineering Faculty, and a Singapore National Day Public Administration Medal.

He obtained his bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD degrees from Auckland University, NUS, and Cambridge University, respectively.
