Historically Black Colleges and Universities
Dr. Monica Hayes is a consultant for education, mental health, and health care issues. She is currently teaching intensive English to international students at Florida A&M University. Recently Dr. Hayes was inducted into The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Florida Alpha Kappa Gamma Chapter. Dr. Hayes has served in a variety of leadership positions since her arrival in Tallahassee from the Northeast in 2001. She earned a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Phoenix, a masters in clinical social work from the University of Connecticut, and a master of arts in teaching from the University of Vermont.
Evie Morrison Myers currently serves as special adviser to the president for international initiatives at Prairie View A&M University. Myers earned her BS from Iowa State University and her JD at the University of Iowa, College of Law. As the senior international officer at Prairie View A&M University, Myers coordinates the university-wide internationalization strategy. She is the recipient of the Japan 2013 Fulbright International Education Administrators Program award. Currently, Myers serves NAFSA as the co-chair for the MIG BMcPie, Region III Diversity & MSI Liaison, and as a Mentor for the Diversity Impact Program. Myers also serves on the Diversity Abroad Advisory Board.
Dr. Jewell Green Winn has over thirty years of experience in higher education and serves Tennessee State University as senior international officer, deputy chief diversity officer and assistant professor in educational administration. She provides leadership for the Office of Diversity and International Affairs. Dr. Winn holds a doctorate of education degree, masters of public administration degree, and bachelor of business administration degree. She is a member several civic and social organizations and has executed various community and university initiatives requiring extensive research in diversity and international issues as well as policy implementation.
Community and Associate Colleges
Dr. Jackie Boboye is a professor/counselor, international students’ advisor and multicultural club advisor at Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Dr. Boboye has a BA in sociology/social work, an MA in education with an emphasis in counseling from California State University, San Bernardino. She received a doctorate degree in education with emphasis in the educational leadership and management from Capella University. Dr. Boboye is an active community organizer, international consultant, mentor, and volunteer at Grace International Educational Consulting (GIEC) a non-profit organization where she facilitates free workshops, seminars and trainings to prepare students for academic and career success.
Dr. Johna McClendon serves as a designated school official (DSO) at Houston Community College in Houston, Texas, specializing in both admissions and immigration compliance, serving the largest community college international student population in the nation. She has earned a doctorate in education administration from Texas Southern University, a master’s in education from Langston University, and bachelor's of science from the University of Central Oklahoma. She is the chair of various departmental international initiatives and provides leadership with the execution of policies and procedures.
Erika Rohrbach directs international student services at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. She is a past chair of NAFSA Region X, where she also served as a regulatory ombudsperson. Currently, she serves as diversity adviser on NAFSA's Membership Committee, where she's worked on diversity and inclusion and with NAFSA's Member Interest Groups; she has also served on the International Student and Scholar Services Regulatory Practice Travel Subcommittee. A recipient of Region X's James O'Driscoll Distinguished Service Award, she's an alumna of the Fulbright International Education Administrators program in Japan.
Stacye Fraser Thompson has worked in international education for over 20 years in the areas of immigration, community outreach, and more recently in the admissions arena. After 18 years of immigration advising in a university, she is now at Jefferson State Community College as their coordinator of international student services. She has served as chair for the Alabama Association of International Educators and as Alabama State Representative and subsequently as the Knowledge Community Representative for International Education Leadership and Teaching Learning and Scholarship. Currently she serves on the board for Study Alabama and is working to develop international education initiatives within the Alabama Community College System. She holds a master's in international relations and enjoys teaching, mentoring, and anything international.
Private Institutions
Rosie L. Edmond is the director of international admissions for Ohio Northern University. In this role she oversees the marketing, recruitment and admissions efforts for the Office of International Admissions. Prior to ONU, she was the EducationUSA regional educational advising coordinator for Northeast Asia and Pacific. Rosie has been in the field of international education for about 16 years and has presented and led workshops on topics relating to international education to audiences worldwide. Rosie serves as past co-chair for the Japan SIG, and 2017 marks her second year as a Diversity Impact Program mentor. Rosie is a native of California and a veteran of the United States Navy.
Saundra Hampton is the associate director of the Office of International Affairs at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. She’s been an active member of NAFSA’s Region X for 17 years but worked with international students for over 27 years. As an active member, Saundra has chaired, moderated, and been a panelist of many regional sessions. Saundra has served as conference planner, the Region X chair stream as a member of the Leadership Development Committee and is currently serving as chair designate of the Regional Affairs Committee. Some fun facts about Saundra: she has traveled to over 70 countries, visiting all 7 continents.
Allegra Laing joined the Isabella Cannon Global Education Center at Elon University in March 2016. Previously, Allegra served as the study abroad coordinator at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and as an education abroad adviser at Washington State University. An active member of the North Carolina Association of International Educators (NCAIE) and NAFSA: Association of International Educators, Allegra has held leadership positions at the state and regional levels in international education. Her special interests include access, diversity and inclusion in education abroad, intercultural competency, and the impact of education abroad on ethnic identity development.
Mia Schleifer is the assistant director at Pratt Institute's Office of International Affairs. She started at Pratt after living in China and Korea where she was teaching ESL. She has an MSEd in art and design education from Pratt Institute, a BA from Rutgers University in visual art, and hold certificates from Alpha Center International in Munich, Germany and the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York. In her current position at Pratt Institute, she enjoys being an international student adviser where she is a DSO and ARO. She has been at Pratt for more than 20 years. She has presented at regional conferences on the topics of exchange programs, visual learning, and being a global nomad.
Emlyn Torres is an international student and scholar adviser at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. She works in international student and scholar services, advising F-1 and J-1 students, J-1 scholars, and H-1B scholars. Emlyn helps manage orientation programs at Northwestern, focusing on student leadership development, providing multi-day programs for undergraduate students and parents, and has contributed to graduate student orientations. She works to provide programming opportunities for international students, focused on issues of identity and justice to facilitate broad and meaningful cross-cultural dialogue. Emlyn serves as the advocacy coordinator for NAFSA Region V.
