Amaris “Ami” Vázquez Vargas (she/they) is a Puerto Rican, queer, woman serving as Program Coordinator for Faculty-led Programs at Texas A&M University's (TAMU) Education Abroad supporting students and faculty/staff on international experiences. They co-created and co-teach a First-Year Experience course on Global Learning, as well as a Intercultural Change Leadership Curriculum with a digital badge component. Ami served on Forum’s EDI Around the World Working Group, a TAMU Academic Affairs Climate and Diversity Committee (AACDC) subcommittee, and other JEDI-focused high-impact practices. They currently serve on the NAFSA EAKC DEI Subcommittee. Ami has an M.A. in Higher Ed Administration from The George Washington University and is a Higher Education Ph.D. student with a concentration in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Social Justice at TAMU. They have presented at various conferences on JEDI topics. Ami is also the recipient of the 2022 Excellence in Diversity & Inclusion in International Education (EDIIE) Rising Star Award in the Individual/Professional category.
